Della Mae Smith Topham

I have been helping Ty with his ancestor report for school.  We got a CD, from my grandparents, last year for Christmas that has and interview with my great grandparents on it.  They interviewed them in '71 on my great grandma's 75th b-day.  As we were listening to it, Ty picked the same story that I always loved as a kid.  About my great grandma getting thrown into the bushes as their wagon wrecked and it saved her life.  Unfortunately, her mother was killed in the accident saving her life.  It's funny I never put together exactly who that story was about as a child.  I was always intrigued by the picture of this beautiful young woman my grandma had in small room and asked her to tell me the story again and again, but it all seamed so far in the past, ancient history.  My great grandma Della Mae and great great grandma Annis, are not so far removed from me now.  Annis was 31 at the time of her death, the age I am now.  She left behind six children the oldest being 12, my Ty will be 12 this next year.  And the youngest 17 months who is my great grandma Della Mae.  It was great to uncover more details of the story and more about them for myself.  As Ty was looking through a book he said, "Mom why does this look like you?"  It was a picture of Annis!  Ty was most impressed with his great great grandpa George A.   He said in his interview he was a pretty good athlete in his day, a "real good rastler".  I told Ty, see wrestling is in your blood deeper than you knew, he was very excited about that.

twilight

So, I finally got to finish the second half of Twilight the movie tonight.  And may I just say, woohoo, me likes.  I know, I'm red in the face it's teeny bopper, but I realized watching it that it's all about the falling in love that girls like, we are much too romantical.  Two thumbs up and a fan to cool me down.  Oh and about that second 1/2 part.  I went with friends to it the first night and let's just say me and El Mexicano did not get along that night.  I need not go any further on that subject.

Home Show

I went to the home show on Saturday with a friend.  It was interesting.  I learned several things.  Mostly what stood out to me was they were people my age, that graduated the year I did!  And they have their lives together enough to have their home featured in a home show! ugh!  And secondly, almost every home had a nursery.  My excuse for not having a perfect house all along was that I have young children and one day when they aren't messing it up any more it will be perfectly clean.  Now what can I use for an excuse???  On a positive note for me there were cute things done, but things I had already done, so it made me feel up to speed on my deco/crafting.  Several of the houses were the same, split level, same design, similar decorating style.  I felt inspired to put our house in next year, maybe it'll push us to get some projects done we've just let go, since we're just happy to be in our own home.  This valley could use a little shaking up by the different style and design our house is.  Beside, it could be good business for Tom and his home designs.  I'd definitely have to get with Cherish and get busy on some bedding.  It seems do-able,  but if this year goes by like this last year (which I believe was only 3 months long).  It might have to be the next year!

Clark W. Griswald

So we headed over to Glenwood, and checked out the big light display.  Clarky boy looks like an amateur in exterior illumination next to these folks.  It is pretty neat.  The kids like it the best of all we've seen.  I still like the radio synced one best, after all I am a Christmas musicholic.  I love music and things that dance to it, even lights.

It's better than CHRISTMAS!

We went cruising around town last noct for our annual "check out the Christmas lights" FHE.  We are starting to get some new subdivisions in our neck of the woods, so we thought those would be good places to check out.  Boy, am I glad we did.  We came upon this house where the lights were blinking all different.  As we got closer I said lets roll the window down and see if they have music playing, then we noticed a sign...."tune into 88.1"  So we switched the station over and sure enough the lights were synced with music.  It was so cool!  The kids loved it!  Eth, with his huge eyes and expressions said, "THIS IS BETTER THAN CHRISTMAS!"  I laughed and said, "This is Christmas buddy!"  The other kids agreed that it was better than fireworks.  We sat there for a good 20 mins.  And of course they are begging to go again tonight.  Which we just might, I heard there is an awesome one in Glenwood, that increases their power bill $400.00 for the month of December, and I thought Tom would go over board, yikes!

My first blog!

We'll I'm finally here.  Slow, but steady wins the race, right?....  I was so nervous setting this up last noct I was shaking a bit. hahaha!  I don't know why, maybe because I know I don't have time to get hooked on this.  But if it gets me to sit down and write some stuff going on in our life, then it'll be a success.  I love to look in and see how friends and fam are doing anyway.  So here's us!
